Nu-Ray’s fifty-year warranty is real. It just does not cover the thing you will notice first.
Nu-Ray Metals rolls steel siding panels in 24 and 26 gauge on G90 or AZ50 substrate, with aluminum and copper available to order, out of Puyallup, Washington. Local manufacture matters more on a metal job than it sounds — profiles, trims and color matches come from an hour down I-5 rather than from across the country, and on a re-side that turns a six-week lead time into a phone call.
The warranty is written against the paint system rather than the panel. On the 50-year Cool Kynar PVDF finish, film integrity runs the full fifty years: the coating will not peel, check, chip or crack to an extent apparent on ordinary outdoor observation. Chalk and fade, however, are covered for twenty, with fade defined as no more than 5 Hunter Delta-E units under ASTM D2244.
That gap is the honest version of the fifty-year headline. What a homeowner actually watches go wrong on a metal wall is color drift and chalking, and that coverage expires at year twenty. It is still a strong warranty. It is simply a twenty-year warranty for the part you look at and a fifty-year one for the part you do not.

Three things to check before committing. The warranty covers the coating, not the metal — there is no substrate perforation or rust-through coverage in the document we read. It also excludes salt-water environments within 1,500 feet of the shore, which sits awkwardly next to the marketing for the Ocean Guard finish as ideal for shoreside properties; if your house is on the water, get that resolved in writing first. And Nu-Ray’s own site gives the Zincalume Plus warranty as 25 years on one page and 20 on another, so ask for the PDF rather than trusting either. No fire rating is published for the siding: the UL 580 Class 90 rating that appears on the NRM-1000 sheet is a roof wind-uplift rating, not a fire one.
