What Auburn Does to Siding
Auburn’s valley floor holds moisture — river fog and slow-drying winter air keep siding damp longer than the hills above it, and shaded walls on the older downtown-area homes show it first. Up on Lea Hill and West Hill the problem flips: slope runoff concentrates at the base of walls, and the lowest courses rot ahead of everything else. Not always. It's common for one shaded or weather-facing elevation to fail years ahead of the others, and rebuilding that wall properly can be the whole job. We inspect all four walls and tell you honestly which situation you have — a repair and a full re-side are very different projects and very different numbers.
Does valley wind change how siding is installed?
It changes how seriously the fastening schedule gets treated. Most wind damage we're called out to in the valley traces back to the original installation — nails placed short of the manufacturer's pattern — rather than to the storm itself. Fastening to spec is what keeps the warranty valid and the siding on the wall.
