A lot of Seattle was built between 1900 and 1930, and the original siding was old-growth cedar — remarkable wood, but a century of weather finds every failed paint film and unflashed joint. Homes built or re-sided in the mid-1980s through mid-1990s are a different story. That era’s hardboard siding fails by absorbing moisture — swelling at the joints, going soft along the bottom edges — and the damage behind the boards usually runs ahead of what shows. How We Work

Every project runs the same way. We tear off the old siding and inspect the sheathing underneath — the only honest moment to find rot. Then a weather-resistive barrier, flashing at every window, door, and transition, and siding installed to the manufacturer’s specification. Sealing and caulking, paint if it’s in the scope, and a final walkthrough with you.

We side one face of the house at a time, so your home stays watertight for the entire project. Work hours are 8 to 5, Monday through Friday, and the crew cleans up daily — including a rolling magnet through the yard for nails.

What Affects the Cost
