Why Choose Us
Why Bremerton Homeowners Choose Side-Pro
- Marine-grade specification. Bremerton lives on saltwater. Corrosion-resistant fasteners and primed cut edges are our baseline near the water, because fasteners and finishes are where marine-exposed walls fail first.
- We know old, hardworking housing. Shipyard-era homes carry layers — previous sidings, old repairs, old paint. Our carpenters have thirty years of judgment about what’s under there and what to do about it.
- Our crews are employees. We hire, train, and keep our installers. The bid is a real scope, and the crew that starts finishes.
- A warranty we’re around to honor. Our own 5-Year Workmanship Warranty, plus manufacturer coverage — Hardie lap carries a 30-year non-prorated, transferable warranty.
- Siding replacement in James Hardie, cedar, or metal.
- Siding repair for rot, wind damage, and failed walls on the weather side.
- James Hardie installation to specification — non-combustible, moisture-stable, and right for this exposure.
- Cedar siding in every grade by our in-house carpenters, including restoration on the older hillside homes.
- Exterior painting by our own crew, with coastal-grade prep.
- Windows flashed and integrated with the siding.
What Bremerton Does to Siding
Saltwater surrounds Bremerton on three sides, and marine air is patient: it corrodes fasteners, chalks finishes, and finds every unprimed cut edge, usually years before the siding boards themselves give out. West- and south-facing walls take the weather off the Sound directly and fail first — they’re where every inspection starts.
The housing adds its own decades. Shipyard-era homes above the water are pushing a century, often wearing multiple generations of siding at once; the wartime and postwar neighborhoods are reaching the natural end of their original cladding; and homes built or re-sided in the ’80s and ’90s carry that era’s moisture-prone hardboard, which shows itself in swollen joints and soft bottom edges.
How We Work
Tear-off and sheathing inspection, weather-resistive barrier, flashing at every opening and transition, siding installed to the manufacturer’s specification — with marine-grade fasteners specified near the water — then sealing, paint if in scope, and a final walkthrough. One face at a time, watertight throughout, daily cleanup. Work hours 8 to 5, Monday through Friday.
What Affects the Cost
How many layers come off and what the century-old sheathing looks like underneath, marine-grade material specs near the water, size and stories, and material choice. Free walk-through, real number, no pressure.
Bremerton Siding Questions
Do I need a permit to replace siding in Bremerton?
Requirements depend on the scope of work. We confirm what your project needs with the City of Bremerton and handle any permitting as part of the job. You can confirm current requirements in the City of Bremerton's Permit Guide.
Does salt air really wear out siding faster?
It wears out the fasteners and finishes faster — the boards usually outlast both. Stainless or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners and primed cut edges are the fix, and they have to happen at installation.
My house has a few layers of old siding — is that a problem?
It's a planning item, not a crisis. We price honestly for what's likely underneath and inspect the sheathing before anything new goes on.
How long does a re-side take?
Around two weeks of installation, plus about a week for painting; scheduling runs four to eight weeks from signing. Watertight throughout.
What warranty comes with the work?
Our 5-Year Workmanship Warranty plus manufacturer coverage — Hardie lap carries a 30-year non-prorated, transferable warranty.
One wall looks bad but the rest of the house seems fine. Do I need to re-side everything?
Not always. It's common for one shaded or weather-facing elevation to fail years ahead of the others, and rebuilding that wall properly can be the whole job. We inspect all four walls and tell you honestly which situation you have — a repair and a full re-side are very different projects and very different numbers.
