What Kent Does to Siding
Kent grew fast, and it shows in the siding. East Hill, Panther Lake, Meridian and the Scenic Hill neighbourhoods filled in through the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, so a large share of the city’s houses and apartment buildings are now on their original cladding or on a second generation installed in the hardboard era. Swelling at board joints, soft bottom edges and chalky, cupped boards are the signs worth an inspection.
The ground matters too. Kent sits between the valley floor and the hills above it, and on sloping lots runoff concentrates at the base of walls, where the lowest courses rot first. Correct ground clearances and flashing at those courses are most of the fix.

How We Work
Tear-off and sheathing inspection, weather-resistive barrier, flashing at every opening and transition, siding installed to the manufacturer’s specification, sealing, paint if it’s in scope, and a final walkthrough. One face of the house at a time — watertight throughout — with daily cleanup including a rolling magnet for nails. Work hours 8 to 5, Monday through Friday.

My home was built in the '80s — repair or replace?
Depends what's under it. Flat, dry walls can often be repaired and painted; soft bottom edges and swelling joints usually mean replacement. We'll tell you which you have, free.

How do I know if my siding is the failing hardboard from the '80s and '90s?
Look at the butt joints and the bottom edges. Hardboard fails by absorbing moisture, so it swells at the joints, goes soft or spongy along the lower edge, and often delaminates into a fibrous texture rather than cracking cleanly. If a screwdriver presses into it, that answers the question — and it's worth acting on, because once it starts wicking water the sheathing behind it is next.
Does moss on the roof matter for my siding?
It does. Moss holds water against the roofline and releases it slowly down the wall below, so the siding under a mossy edge stays wet far longer than the rest. On Kent's shaded lots that's often why one elevation looks a decade older than the others.
