CembritFiber cement facade board · now part of Swisspearl
Installed by Side-Pro Exteriors across Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma

Cembrit board is on walls all over this region. What has changed is the name on the invoice.

Cembrit is a European fiber cement manufacturer whose range — through-colored and coated facade boards, corrugated sheet and slate — has been consolidated into Swisspearl Group. As of August 2026, cembrit.com issues a redirect to Swisspearl’s North American site, and the UK domain does the same. The material has not gone anywhere. The branding has.

What that means in practice: where a specification, a schedule or an older drawing calls for a Cembrit board, the right move is to establish the current Swisspearl equivalent before anything is ordered, rather than assume a straight substitution. Swisspearl does not publish a rename table, so we go back to the manufacturer for the specific product instead of guessing from a similar-sounding name.

That matters most on repair and partial re-clad work. If you have an existing Cembrit facade in Seattle, Bellevue or Tacoma and you are replacing damaged boards or extending an elevation, matching the existing thickness, texture and color is the job. Bring us a board and we will identify it properly before we quote.

Where the specification is open rather than inherited, we would generally point you at the current Swisspearl range or at EQUITONE. Both publish current North American technical documentation, which makes them easier to stand behind.

We would rather set expectations properly than run a page that pretends otherwise. There is no separate Cembrit website, catalog or warranty document any more — the domains redirect and the technical documentation sits under Swisspearl, which itself publishes no warranty. We verified those redirects ourselves rather than taking them from a trade article. If you have a Cembrit facade to match or extend, bring us the board. If you are specifying new, we will quote the current equivalent and show you the data sheet it comes from.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Fiber cement, in facade board format. Through-colored and coated boards for ventilated facades, rather than a lap siding product.
  • Dimensionally stable in a wet climate. It does not swell, rot or absorb water into the body of the board the way hardboard and timber composites do.
  • Non-combustible substrate. Cement and cellulose — it will not ignite or carry flame.
  • Suits a board-and-gap elevation. The format lends itself to vertical expression with open joints, which is why it turns up on modern farmhouse and contemporary builds here.
  • Now supplied as Swisspearl. The range sits within Swisspearl Group; current technical data, product finder and downloads are all published under that name.
  • Match before you order. On a repair or an extension to an existing Cembrit facade, thickness, texture and color need identifying against the current range rather than assumed.
  • No published warranty. Neither Cembrit nor Swisspearl publishes a warranty document. Any warranty quoted for this board generally belongs to a distributor.
  • No published service life. The 30-to-50-year figure often quoted is an industry rule of thumb, not a manufacturer commitment.

Why Choose Side-Pro

Most Cembrit work we are asked about now is matching, not specifying. That makes identifying the existing board the first real task.

Because the Cembrit name has been folded into Swisspearl, an inherited specification or an older drawing no longer points at a live catalog. If you have damaged boards to replace or an elevation to extend, guessing at a similar-sounding current product is how you end up with a wall that is nearly matched — which reads worse than one that is obviously different.

Identify the board firstBring us a piece and we establish thickness, texture and color against the current range before quoting
Confirm with the manufacturerWe go back to Swisspearl for the current equivalent rather than inferring it from a product name
Detail the wall behindVentilated cavity, flashings and drainage resolved properly — the part that actually decides how long the facade lasts

We work on fiber cement facades across Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma and the wider Puget Sound region, on repairs and extensions as readily as on complete elevations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Cembrit compare to James Hardie in Seattle?

Both are fiber cement products with strong moisture resistance. Cembrit tends to be specified on projects where board and panel profiles in smooth or fine-textured finishes are desired, and where a European-sourced product is preferred. James Hardie offers a broader range of residential profiles and has a longer track record in the North American market.

Does Cembrit need to be painted after installation?

Cembrit boards are supplied with a factory primer coat and require field painting with a compatible exterior paint. Side-Pro can coordinate paint application as part of the installation scope.

Is Cembrit suitable for a historic home renovation in Seattle or Tacoma?

Cembrit's clean profiles are generally best suited to contemporary or transitional architectural styles rather than detailed Victorian or craftsman homes. For historic renovations, we recommend discussing profile options with our team to find the best fit.

What is the expected lifespan of Cembrit siding in the Pacific Northwest?

Fiber cement of this type is generally expected to last several decades in this climate, but neither Cembrit nor Swisspearl publishes a service-life figure — so treat any specific number, including the 30 to 50 years often quoted, as an industry rule of thumb rather than a manufacturer commitment. What actually decides it here is the detailing at the flashings, whether the wall drains behind the board, and whether the coating is maintained.
