Woodtone does not make siding. It finishes it — and that distinction decides which warranty covers what.
Woodtone applies a factory coating over somebody else’s board: Allura, James Hardie or LP SmartSide. You get the substrate manufacturer’s warranty on the board and Woodtone’s warranty on the finish. They are two separate documents with two separate sets of terms, and anyone describing the result as a single 30-year siding warranty has collapsed two things that should stay apart.
The finish is the reason to specify it. RusticSeries comes in lap, shake and panel profiles with a cedar-look coating applied under factory conditions rather than on a scaffold in the rain — which, on a Seattle or Tacoma re-side booked for October, is not a small advantage. Their US operation is in Everett, so it is close-to-home product for a Puget Sound job.
The coating warranty runs thirty years from the date of application and covers three specific things: the coating will not peel or flake, dirt removal with a mild detergent will not damage it, and color will not fade more than 10 Delta E units.
Read the proration and the exclusions before leaning on that thirty. Years one to three cover 100% of coating cost; years four to ten reduce by 7% a year; years eleven to thirty by 3% a year. Labor for applying replacement product is specifically excluded, and “original owner” means the builder, developer and first purchaser — so in practice it does not follow the house.
James Hardie fiber cement · Nichiha fiber cement · Ceraclad ceramic-coated siding · All siding services
Two limitations that rarely appear in a description of this product. The peel-and-flake guarantee applies to fiber cement substrates only — engineered wood, meaning LP SmartSide, is excluded from that coverage. And mold and mildew are an explicit warranty exclusion, so any moss or algae resistance claim attached to Woodtone is not supported by Woodtone’s own documents. No fire rating is published for RusticSeries; the fire-resistant item in their range is a post, not siding. Note also that the warranty page on their site is a claim submission form rather than the terms, and claims must be filed within ten days of discovering a problem.
