SOPRASEAL STICK VP goes on without primer, sticks at 19°F, and takes six months of weather. It is built for a job that will not run to schedule.

SOPRASEAL STICK VP is a 24-mil self-adhered, vapor-permeable water-resistive air barrier. No primer, no fasteners, no laps to tape — the membrane is the barrier and the seal at once. At 11 perms it sits in the middle of the range: vapor-open enough for a wall to dry outward, tight enough to slow inward drive through a wet winter.

The number that earns it a place on a Puget Sound job is 19°F. Most self-adhered membranes want 40°F and a warm substrate before they will bond properly. SOPRASEAL will go down considerably colder, which widens the window on a Seattle or Tacoma re-side that has to happen in January rather than July.

It is rated for up to 180 days of UV and weather exposure. That is a maximum, not a design allowance — we plan the cladding around it rather than treating it as permission to leave a wall open all season.

When is a self-adhered WRB like Soprema better than standard housewrap in Seattle?

Self-adhered membranes are most valuable when continuous air barrier performance is required—typically on commercial buildings, multifamily projects, or high-performance residential construction targeting advanced energy certifications. They are also preferred on complex building geometries where mechanically fastened housewrap is difficult to install without gaps.

Can Soprema membrane be installed in Seattle's cold, damp winter conditions?

Soprema membranes have specific temperature and substrate moisture requirements for installation. Most products require substrate temperatures above 25°F and dry surface conditions. Side-Pro monitors conditions carefully and schedules membrane installation to comply with product requirements.
